Lubricants
One of the most underestimated accessories is cable lubricant. Especially when pulling cables through long or narrow pipe systems, friction is the main enemy – it increases the required pulling force, stresses cable jackets, and can overwhelm even powerful pulling or tensioning systems.
Lubricant provides a remedy here by reducing the friction coefficient between the cable jacket and the pipe wall or between the pipe and the pulling tape. This allows the cable to be moved more easily and in a more controlled manner, increasing the lifespan of the cables and putting less stress on your cable pulling system.
In the past, milking grease or even dish soap was used, which then gummed up in the pipes. Modern cable lubricants for home installation consist of water-based GEL, spray, or foam.
